Children’s Pottery Classes Begin this Week

Children’s Pottery Classes Begin this Week – Ballarat & Surrounds

Term One is always a bit of a blur with recovering from Christmas and school holidays, school fees, new school books, new school uniforms… the list goes on!

And yes, pottery classes start this week too!

But don’t panic, there are still spaces available, and if you’re not organised enough for this week the following week or mid term enrolments are welcome. Your child won’t have missed out on anything. Children within the class work at their own pace and are different levels, so nobody feels left behind.

If you enrol in week two or mid term I simply adjust the term fees to reflect how many weeks are left in the term. If you enrol online this can be credited back via clay and/or firing fees.

Children’s classes are held on Saturday mornings or Wednesday afternoons.

You can enrol online via the SHOP or call me on 0438382522 🙂

Meanwhile here are some pics of works made in the children’s class from last term.

School Holiday Kids Class

School Holiday Kids Class – Pottery in Ballarat

It was a hot windy today  – 40+ in fact!

This mornings class started at 10am, before the heat of the day, so the studio was reasonably cool, and though a small group they were enthusiastic about creating fantasy creatures!

The brief was hand modelling a basic shape, then adding detail and painting with coloured slips – I will then dip in a clear glaze to make the finished works shiny. And I must say the children’s creations look fantastic!

There is anther school holiday next Wednesday 20th January – details are available on the School Holiday Workshops Page 🙂

This is a fun activity designed to stimulate the children’s imagination, and aid dexterity and fine motor skills..

 January 20th Monsters 2-4pm

During this workshop children will create a monster lidded pot using the pinching technique. Details such as eyes, teeth and horns will then be applied. Monsters will then be painted with coloured slips.

Tuesday Tutorial – handles

Today’s Tuesday Tutorial focuses on handles for mugs, jugs, casseroles- anything that needs a handle!

The video comes from the Ceramic Arts Daily website, and the presenter focuses on a different take on a more decorative handle, but the technique of attaching and paying attention to balance and form are the same for any handle being attached to any vessel, whether wheelthrown or handbuilt.

Enjoy, and remember to drop back in next week for the next Tuesday Tutorial 🙂
