Mosaic Classes Term Two & Upcoming Classes

Mosaic Classes Term Two & Upcoming Classes

WOW – such great results from the term two adult mosaic classes!

This term we created a garden paver using a mixture of tesserae including glass tiles, glass shards, ceramic shards and beads. We made the pavers using the direct method, using outdoor grout so that the paver will last forever as the prided focus of the garden bed!

Students had a great array of ideas for their design which we drew on paper and coloured as a basic guide for laying out our tesserae. We then glued the tesserae to fibreglass mesh and, when dry, grouted the layout onto the paver.

The next round of mosaic classes will be offered in mid August and I am planning a three dimensional project, so stay tuned!

Such a great time at The Drop in Days!

Everyone had such a great time at School Holiday The Drop in Days!

And the plan is to have more!

Held over the Easter break the two drop in days had lots of happy smiley faces visit. Pinch pots were the project which were decorated with carved designs and stamps. The pots will remain here at the studio to dry, will then be fired and ready for collection. Once they are taken home the pots can be coloured using paints, pastels, textas, pencils, glitter – anything!!

These drop in days will become a regular feature on the ClayMotion holiday calendar, and may even take place occasionally during school terms, so stay tuned!

And remember that the term two program begins next week, so be sure to check out the CLASSES and WORKSHOPS pages for all the information. Hover over the categories at the top of the page to find the class you need.

Week 2 – children will paint their loom.

Week 3 – children will warp their loom. (thread warping skein onto the loom for creating the weave)

Week 4 – children will complete their weave design, and take their loom home.
