Term Two is Here

I am a bit behind in organising term classes as I went on holidays this past school break – an unusual event for me!

But, I am now getting back in routine….

Adults classes begins this week, and kids classes start next week – times and dates are available on the CLASSES page.

Mid term enrolments are also available, I simply calculate the fees based on how many weeks are remaining in the term.

I have also decided to introduce casual fees for both adults and kids classes considering that some people can’t commit to a full term due to work commitments, or that they may be unsure of whether they will enjoy the classes (though I am sure you will!)

Casual fees are: Adults casual rate $19.00 Childrens casual rate $15.00 plus the usual additions of clay and firing.

Feel free to share this information with friends and family that you think will enjoy pottery!

And now for what we have all been waiting for – some of the great work that has been produced so far this term …. 🙂

Mothers Group Activities in Ballarat at ClayMotion

Mums and Bubs in BallaratEddy 001_1_1_1_1_1

Last Friday afternoon was yet another great session of mums and bubs at ClayMotion.

Eight mums and babies, and a couple of nana helpers, eagerly plunged head on into creating plates which will be keepsakes for both them and their children for many years to come. Although it may seem to be a simple case of pressing hands and feet into wet clay, many of the mums expressed a genuine enjoyment in being able to explore some creativity and self expression with how they went about individualizing and decorating their plates – which is fantastic!

Being a mum myself – my babies are now 19 and 22 (yes they are still my babies) – I can remember those early days of being too tired and busy to be creative and spend time developing my own sense of self and satisfaction, and I believe these sessions are a great way to achieve these needs whilst still being with your baby and amongst the company of peers – it is a win-win!!

ClayMotion Mums and Bubs can be organised most mornings or afternoons with a few weeks notice. The cost is $32.00 per mum and bub, which includes all materials, tuition and firing costs AND a cup of tea or coffee!! Enquiries can be made by emailing me or phoning 0438382522 🙂

And so without further ado here some happy snaps from Friday’s session ~~

CHILDRENS SCHOOL HOLIDAY CLASS

CLAY THONGS

Wednesday 8th April 10-12noon $32.00 including materials and firing.

This project is a tactile project encouraging the children to ‘squelch’ their feet in the clay to make imprints for a set of clay thongs.

Children will roll out clay, imprint their feet into the soft clay, cut out the shape of their feet, and make their imprints into thongs.
The thongs will then be decorated by hand moulding flowers, animals, abstract designs – whatever the children prefer, and then will be painted using brightly coloured slips.

Parents will be contacted when the thongs are fired and ready to pick up. LIMITED NUMBERS – ENROL ONLINE HERE

PENCIL HOLDERS

Wednesday 16th April 2-4pm $32.00 including materials and firing.

Children will create the pencil holder by using the ‘pinching’ method. Techniques for modelling and joining clay will also be explored.

The pencil holder will then be decorated by hand moulding additions, such as eyes and tails, and will then be painted using brightly coloured slips.

The pencil holder is a useful object the children can use everyday while also being proud of having created it.

Parents will be contacted when the thongs are fired and ready to pick up.

LIMITED NUMBERS: ENROL ONLINE HERE

*** Please note that firing will be increasing this term. I have held fast on firing costs for about four years, but can no longer do so due to increasing gas costs.
Firing will now cost $15.00 per kilo. I appreciate your understanding

CREATIVE TEAMBUILDING WORKSHOPS/REFLECTION DAYS FOR BUSINESS

Recently ClayMotion held a reflection workshop for a group of Berry Street employees. Participants were asked to make a clay bowl while reelecting on how they felt twelve months ago and then a sculptural piece while reflecting how they felt now. The group then had a teram discussion over afternoon tea, followed by free time where some had a try on the pottery wheel and others had some play handbuilding. Overall the session was a great success, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. You can see more about the day on the ClayMotion blog.

Do you own a business or know someone who does that would benefit from a creative
