Workshops – Beginners : What is a Glaze?

Beginners Glaze Workshop – what is a glaze? June 4th 1-4pm 

Fee $120.00 includes tuition, all materials and afternoon tea.

In this beginners workshop students will learn about the different components that make up a glaze, how to formulate basic glaze recipes, how to weigh and mix glaze recipes, how to convert quantities of glaze recipes and Occupational Health and Safety with regards to handling glaze materials. This will be a practical workshop with students participating in real time, working hands on in weighing and mixing.

The workshop will run for three hours with a half hour afternoon tea mid way.

Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen and camera/phone to record their learnings.

Fee includes tuition, all materials and afternoon tea.

This is an ideal workshop for art teachers working in schools, ceramic enthusiasts, amateur ceramicists looking to expand their knowledge,  and artists wanting to broaden their creative arts practice.

Tuesday Tutorial – handles

Today’s Tuesday Tutorial focuses on handles for mugs, jugs, casseroles- anything that needs a handle!

The video comes from the Ceramic Arts Daily website, and the presenter focuses on a different take on a more decorative handle, but the technique of attaching and paying attention to balance and form are the same for any handle being attached to any vessel, whether wheelthrown or handbuilt.
